Wheels are Dymags, but have since been swapped out for Carrozarias(sp?). After bending / breaking two front Dymags it was time to move on. Swinger is a braced 1100 stocker.

Been my experience too...I think they're as immediate as your hand is. I just followed Seths (scs) directions/recommendations for jetting and needles and it pulls real strong everywhere in the rpm range.
Wanna go faster right now? Turn the throttle.
Don't wanna? Hold steady.

Looks like a fudged dyno run to make it look like you have more power than you actually do.... Why wasnt the dyno set at SAE???? Instead of STD? STANDARD?

If his return dyno session uses the same correction factor then there is no fudging.

Re: 1224 getting ready for the Mikuni MJNs...172.30 HP

But to say his bike made 172.3 hp is fudged. Ive played with dyno software and its not hard to show a guy 10 to 15 more horsepower by fudging a few input values into the software.

Returning to the same dyno will only show him his power increase with dif mods.. Lets say he makes another pass with another mod and it makes 180hp.

180hp-172hp= 8 hp gain with this mod... Thats the only info that can be taken from it.. AND IT CAN STILL BE FUDGED........

Re: 1224 getting ready for the Mikuni MJNs...172.30 HP

The correction factor is on the sheet 1.05 so it made about 164 SAE still pretty darn impressive.

a std run vs a std run is the same comparison. its not fudging, in fact its just the softwares computation of a different theories of hp evaluation. its not cheating of any sort. if both runs are compared using the same correction factor then its an apples vs apples run. i have owned 2 dynojet dynos for the past 15 years and you cant really make one "cheat" if you compare runs with the same correction factor.

People complaining like this is why some people won't post up their dyno #'s. It is obviously a strong engine no matter what. And just because the dyno operator had it set to STD is not a big deal, I don't think he was trying to fudge anything.

Re: 1224 getting ready for the Mikuni MJNs...172.30 HP

taken from a Mustang car website, but may be relevant here.

Since we're talking about dyno's, here's an email I sent to Dynojet:

Does atmospheric conditions and elevation effect horsepower readings? For instance, say you dyno a car when the temperature is hot(say 100 degree's) and then dyno it again later in that same day when the temp is 60 degrees. Would the temperature effect the horsepower numbers? Or would the numbers be the same due to a correction factor, say like the SAE setting? Also would a car read less horsepower if it was at a higher elevation than it would if it were at a lower elevation on the same dyno?

Here's their reply:

You have touched on the whole purpose of the Correction Factors. The various formulas, SAE, STD, JPN, etc. are all mathematical formulas that take into account the various weather conditions and try to ‘correct’ the measured output on the Dynojet to the projected equivalent if the test was performed under ideal conditions. So, if the temp, pressure or humidity does change, theoretically it will be accounted for and offset by the chosen atmospheric correction factor. In the US, the SAE correction factor is thought of as the most widely used.

These factors do ‘assume’ that the vehicle is properly tuned for the particular conditions, for instance a carbureted engine that is set up for seal level, would need adjustments when moved and then tested at higher elevations. But, if all the engine management parameters are correctly dialed in, and proper dyno testing procedures are followed, the power from one day to the next should remain equivalent.
