New zrx from Austin, Texas

Hi all my name is John and I just picked up a shiny 01 bone stock zrx 1200. So far I love it. I posted over on that other forum and they told me to come check you guys out as there may be a good few of you from Texas. I plan on keeping it stock although I need to slap some frame sliders on. I saw these on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Kawasaki-1100-.../dp/B0013CMSKE

you think they're worth a shot?

The only other thing I may consider is putting a louder exhaust on maybe d and d or muzzy, although I don't really want to get into rejetting and all that. Are there any slip on mufflers that don't affect the tuning much but still give a little more grunt. That way I could hang my nice clean stock pipe up and keep til selling time (which hopefully won't come for a long time, if ever!). But you know sometimes if everything works i'd just assume keep it stock.

Anyways, looking forward to being a member here, and maybe I'll meet up with some of you Texas guys for a beer some day

You've come to the wrong place if that is truly your goal.

Welcome!

Pick whichever flavor slipon you like. You won't see much performance gain with any of 'em. D&D makes a good looking slipon and they're most definitely louder.

You could always just core out the silencer in your stock exhaust canister.

Welcome!
Yeah, so far I've never owned a bike that was bone stock and usually I change all kind of things, we'll see if I can really keep it stock. My last bike was a 85 gpz 900 that the PO had done lots of things to, unfortunately he did them all very poorly, hence my new found appreciation of stock! I just got off the phone with D and D they said they only have a full system, no more slip ons I guess, would have been nice as there in Texas.

Welcome. Check out the parts made by members section for some sliders. Champs sliders are very popular.

Hope to go ride with you soon.

Indeed they do...and in the Hill Country no less. Can you say Marble Falls? There's some good riding up that way, and some good blueberry pie.

Re: New zrx from Austin, Texas

I just ordered a set of champs sliders, while those amazon jobs may have worked i feel like I wouldn't be able to sleep at night not knowing whether or not they'd actually hold up to a fall. Having a pretty hard time with keeping the bike stock now, the more I think about it, maybe I will get a full exhaust and rejet! Just never had a stock bike before, and am used to badly performed mods on my old pos bikes. Look forward to doing it all right. I'm probably gonna send my stock seat in at some point to Mr. Wog also, and maybe sell the corbin. I'm kind of short and don't mind riding with only my toes touching but would appreciate being able to put the heel down. Also I prefer the look of the modded stocker to the corbin, the corbin looks like it's for fat dudes.

I have a Kerker bolt on that came off my 2001. It's not perfect, but has been repacked and polished . $100 shipped.

Re: New zrx from Austin, Texas

Would love to but I have to go in to work at 2 tomorrow. It's too bad too as it's supposed to be the only nice day for a while again. I've been riding in this terrible rain and it's driving me crazy.
