Re: ZX11 Turbo Install
Its not like i will be concered if the na portion of my bike doesnt see 250, i am building a turbo monster, it will all be done with the boost, that i am well aware of. Especially for how much i want to shove down its throat

Re: ZX11 Turbo Install
A motor such as you have discribed opens up one hell of a different can of worms. You now have a multitude of factors to concider. A few conciderations are chassis flex, Traction control (slidder clutches), outboard bearing supports and a multitude of other conciderations. Is this thing going to be worth all of the added expence. That $8000 is just a drop in the bucket as compared to what you are really going to have to spend to get this beast hooking up and running strait. Been down this road before, You had better have some deep pockets. But I will be looking forward to any future posts on this. Good luck,

Re: ZX11 Turbo Install
So you think I am going to crazy then? Should I just do the 1109 bore kit and leave my stock rods? I am reaching out for advice here. You guys have not pushed me the wrong way yet. So I am mearly reaching out for any and what ever advice you have on this build. I REALLY DONT want to spend a g on a set of rods, I really dont. I am just trying to build the best motor possible. Like I said, It will be Alex Fornarelli putting the motor together for me. I know he wants me to go big and bold. I am not trying to break any land speed records. I just want to shove a $hit ton of boost down her throat and have it hold. So I am an open book right now. I just ordered a used cylinder block off of ebay for $42.00 to send out and have bored. I haven't started shopping for pistons yet. But Steve Rice told me to go with MTC pistons, so that is what I am going to buy. Help me out here guys!

...and in a couple months you'll have an $8000.00 set of matching ashtrays.
Good luck! ![]()

Re: ZX11 Turbo Install
If you were building a race bike I would say your going in the right direction. If you expect this to still be a street bike..
. 350hp and street bike do not go so well together unless you don't mind spending the money for C16 fuel. It never hurts to build the motor strong, but keep the boost down so your in the 250hp range. |

Re: ZX11 Turbo Install
So no rods then? is that what everyone is saying? Its gonna take me a little bit of time to start putting it together. I am done riding for the year.. It sucks.. But it is what it is. I will be running a wideband the second time around, promise that.

Re: ZX11 Turbo Install
Take that 8g's and buy a ZX14 then.
If you keep it at 250hp or less, the stock rods should hold. If your in no rush to finish the build, keep an eye on ebay for a good set of rods. I see them come up for ZX11's once in a while. |

Re: ZX11 Turbo Install
ZX11 and ZRX1100 rods are the same, buy them in matching twos.

Nah... stock rods and crank will take way more than 250.

Re: ZX11 Turbo Install
The thing I didn't see on your list of parts this time was a pitot tube...did you ever get around to putting one on your last build? It's not mythology, it really DOES compensate fuel, allow the use of smaller jetting and drastically improve drivability. You said you rolled the dice and came up snake eyes, but I don't see how it could have turned out any other way... DON'T drop a ton of money on more expensive parts without getting your fueling (ie: with a pitot tube and wideband) and ignition (dyna with timing retard under boost, or similar)in order. More expensive rods and pistons might make for a more robust engine, won't make it immune to gross abuse. You shouldn't need all the parts you described to make a giant-killer of a streetbike if you just cover the basics properly.

This setup is not going to hit boost until way late. I would be quite leery about going 2mm over. Just seen too many people have problems with head gaskets. Go 1mm over...you won't be able to tell a difference performance-wise I won't go into the oil pan magic fixes.....IMO that is all such things are. Just tape a couple $100 bills to the bottom of the oil pan, will have the exact same effect without all the wrenching and shipping. The rods are way overkill. street bikes just don't see the abuse race bikes see.....
