Question about Corbin seats

Just wondering what they usually go for. There's a used on on Ebay for 400 bucks. Is that a good/normal price for a used Corbin?

Thanks

Re: Question about Corbin seats

I bought my used on the bay for $155 one very small scuff on underside from setting on ground.

The gunfighter I bought from someone on here was just over $200.

$400 for used is too much.

Thats high. New from Corbin is $439 + shipping. Corbins here go in the $250 range or so depending on condition

Just a thought meow.
Wog seats. I have heard nothing but great things about them whereas Corbin seems to have serious Customer Support issues. I know, getting a "used" seat you may not be using Customer Support. It would just suck to need something for it down the road and know that your in for a headache.

that cracks me up every time

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll start looking around some more and give Mr. Wog a shout too. The factory seat definitely is not made for the "long haul".

Hey Luke..best bet is to try and find one to borrow for a hundred miles or so. As mentioned too many times, it's a personal and physiological deal. Some fit a Corbin best (me), some like Sargent, some Mr. Wog. Corbin sits you low and into the bike...I'm 6'1" 190...you? You can also find seats for sale on here from time to time.

Well I am 6'2 and currently holding at around 185lbs...but this married life has really put a huge strain on my metabolism. Hopefully I will maintain 185..

Re: Question about Corbin seats

I wouldn't buy a new Corbin. I paid $475 shipped in February 08. It has been back twice now for warranty issues.

The glue they are using now doesn't hold down the leather and vinyl to the foam for more than a couple months.

I have a return ticket already for it's 3rd return to the factory but I am considering not bothering...they can't seem to fix it, so why keep returning it?

The Corbin feels good to sit on and fits the best with the ZRX side covers and tail section....The Sargent seat sits higher (looks too thick to me) and doesn't fit well next to the side covers and tail...there is a distinct gap not present in the factory or Corbin seats.

I would suggest a WOG or a used Corbin in good shape.

P.S. $400 is too high for a used seat.

Sorry to hear that about Corbin. I've had mine since 1998, on two bikes and it still looks new except for that fabric Corbin thingie on the back that's faded.

Re: Question about Corbin seats

I've bought 2 corbins for my Blackdragon! The first was a gf used for $230 + shipping. The second I found a great deal, gfl + backrest for $250 + shipping.
They are heavy, so shipping isn't cheap. I can ride a lot longer and farther. It's cheeky friendly.

I have a G&L for my ZRX12 that's been in the garage for a long time in a box. I rode it for a month or so, then went back to the OEM seat, because my 29-inch inseams meant I didn't get along with the piping on the seat very long in town. It has a couple of spots where the vinyl was scratch a bit from a fall off the bench, but it's in good shape otherwise. If you're interested, I'll let it go for $100 plus shipping. Pictures can probably be arranged. It has all the mounting hardware.

Re: Question about Corbin seats

I love my Corbin. However, my inseam is about 31". If the seat were any taller, or my inseam were 30", I'd start feeling uncomfortable.

Also, I am not the most aggressive rider out there. Heck, I'm not even in the middle of the pack when it comes to aggression. So the Corbin works great for me.

If I WERE aggressive on the corners, I'd probably want it custom made to be a hint narrower in the front area as it feels nice and wide and comfy, but that makes transitions when sliding around less smooth than I would imagine is optimal.

For all day riding on the freeways or back country roads, I love the corbin and have had a G/L on all three of my bikes.

It's a matter of taste.

BTW, new is in the low/mid $400s, so either search for used in the $200s or pony the extra $ up to get the new one and a warranty/customer support. Mine went back within 1 year for a splitting seam. I scheduled a repair day, rode it up and read a book while the remade the seat.

Re: Question about Corbin seats

FWIW, those little tears seems fairly normal to me. I used 'Liquid Stitch' on mine and they haven't expanded yet. I am not saying 'BUY IT!', but those will happen to you with a Corbin, in my experience with 3 of them.

BS...I've got one that's over 12 years old with over 100K on it and it does not have any "normal' tears.

That's Great News!

I'm guessing that the product quality in the past 5 years has gone downhill then? I've had it happen to my Rex, my v45 seat [both bought since 2004, and my zephyr 750 seat. The zephyr seat though only had it once and that was probably 14 years after it was purchased.

I'm glad the older manufacturing has a better record than my experience with my newer model's have led me to believe. As I had said: "normal to me". I'm not saying it is normal to everyone. And I can only use my experiences to compare. I'm glad there are other experiences that differ!

That's sad to hear about the newer ones if that's the case. As I mentioned before, I've got a GF&L with the green piping and "carbon look" leather. Only sign of wear is that Corbin fabric logo dealie on the back is faded to brown. Also, I didn't mean to jump on you...it's just that I'm really happy with ALL aspects of my Corbin.
